The Greatness Of God Who Takes Pity On Us
A few weeks ago, our Pastor, Prophet Owens preached from Psalm 103 and he emphasized verse 13 that really caught my attention. The KJV said: “Like as a father pitieth his children, So the LORD pitieth them that fear Him.” So, what is pity? I don’t think we always attribute the right definition to words in their true context. We perceive the word pity as degrading and not uplifting as stated by Mr T, who often said: “I pity the fool…," which meant something bad was about to happen to someone.
But Webster defined pity as: “the sorrow felt for another’s suffering or misfortune; compassion; sympathy. The NIT said: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” So, as I meditated on this verse, I thought, what a privilege and great blessing to have God look on us as a compassionate Father to His children when we fear Him (or reverence Him!)
No wonder Solomon said in Proverbs 9:10a: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:” You are a wise person when you learn to fear the Lord! That does not mean to be afraid of God, but to love Him by reverencing Him and obeying His commandments. So, that being true, I was impressed to write the alphabets of: “The Greatness Of God Who Takes Pity On Us!”
