Seeking True Revival – Revive Us Again!

When we look at the word “revive” it means: “to restore to life or consciousness; to give new strength or energy to.” But revive is also connected to the word “revival” which means: “an improvement in the condition or strength of something; an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again.” So, whether we are being revived or experiencing revival, it’s all good!

Another aspect of revive or revival is resuscitation which means: “the action or process of reviving someone from unconsciousness or apparent death.” This can be applicable to the physical heart, marriage, children, your purpose, and most of all your spiritual condition. According to the Biblical perspective, revival comes from 2 Latin words: “vivo” which means to live and “re” which means again.

The Bible encyclopedia defines “revive” as: “to live again more vigorously.” So, spiritually, it’s time to seek true revival to not only live again but do it at a greater level. Several expressions of what revival is to some were stated as follows: “1) A rebirth or reawakening, an invigorating experience where the Holy Ghost moves freely among believers, setting their hearts on fire for the Lord; or

2) Making alive again those who were once alive but have fallen into what is called a cold, dead state. They are weak Christians that are dying but need to be revived to bring them back to their first love and loyalty to Christ; or 3) It's whether converted for the first time or returning to God again in a new way. True revival for sinners is when their eyes have been opened to Who Jesus is and His love for them.

For the Believer returning to true revival requires confession and repentance. So, the sole purpose of revival should be to restore relationship and the presence of God back into our lives with God’s preeminence. We need to seek true revival when our appetite for spiritual things and our love for God has dissipated, resulting in God having a complaint against us.

Revelation 2:4-5 said: “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Also, 2 Chronicles 7:14 said: “if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

But many times, revival starts with one person having a made-up mind to surrender all to follow Jesus!  As it was once said: “One person moving in the power of the Holy Ghost can change everything.” So, let’s wake up, get up, look up, stir up and charge up, as we prepare for the second coming Of Christ while “We Seek True Revival and Ask God To Revive Us Again
