Marginal Christianity

Audio Version

Most of us want to be perceived as someone who is likable and significant. It’s important to us what people think about us. We sometimes go out of our way to make our presence known or emphasize our abilities or titles. Many people enjoy running in the league with the hierarchy or famous people that we feel will make us important. So, we love to name drop!

But why does it appear fanatical when you want to be identified as a mainstream Christian? That’s when our identity as a Christian becomes marginal! Marginal is defined as: “a minimal, insignificant, or almost insufficient amount; small or not very important.” How effective is your life to others as a Christian? Is it marginal or is it substantial?

Are you even concerned if your lifestyle or interactions with the world or even other Christians reflect Christ? Remember, Matthew 5:16 said: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” So, as a Christian are you a flashlight or a snuffer?

Again, I want to encourage you this year to be on fire like the burning bush Moses encountered before God took him into his divine purpose. (Exodus 3:2) But you can’t do this by being a marginal Christian; but you must live according to 2 Corinthians 3:2 which said: “Ye are our epistles written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” Now, I’d like to leave you with a short little poem that I wrote for 2024? Here it goes!
